Sue Naught-Teacher

Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself to the new Little Sprouts community.

My name is Sue Naught (sometimes called Suzi) and I presently live in Bella Vista. I moved here four years ago with my husband who had accepted a new position within the Bentonville area. We moved from Cleveland, OH where I taught K thru 5th grade for six years.

I was raised in Bisbee, Arizona and I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education accompanied by a minor degree in Art Education. I also have completed some graduate studies in Special Education at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA.

Teaching has taken me to several major cities in the midwest and south. Among them are Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, Memphis, TN. Lexington, KY and Charleston, SC. My work experience is extensive, ranging from PreK thru 8th grade. Preschool is my all time favorite class to teach. As parents, I’m certain you will agree that early childhood is the most teachable, loveable age there is.

I look forward to being a part of Little Sprouts Learning Center and together, we will have a fabulous year watching your lil’ sprouts grow!

The Painted Lady Project

Today was an exciting day at Little Sprouts! Our caterpillars arrived! We are eagerly anticipating the day when the caterpillars turn into beautiful Painted Lady butterflies.

Ms. Sue shows the kids how the caterpillars will soon become chrysalides, which will hang from the top of the cup.

Then the students discuss the life cycle of a butterfly.

Next, everyone gets a chance to get an up-close look at the caterpillars.

Very neat!!

Finally, we put the caterpillars in the butterfly habitat and we watch what happens. . .

Looking for Little Sprouts. . .

The students are studying all about seeds and how things grow. Our current experiment is shown above. The students love to come in to class each day and see how the beans have changed.

Today the students cut the beans in half and looked for "little sprouts" emerging. . . as seen in the book above. They couldn't find sprouts yet, but they will be waiting patiently for them to appear!

After the students examined the beans, they drew their observations in their Science journals.

This is how they learn to record their data. They did a great job!!

It's looking a lot like SPRING!!!!
